Accreditation
- CARF Accredited, ASAM Level 3.5 Certified
Headwaters is a private, CARF-accredited treatment program operated by the nonprofit Hanley Foundation, set within a secluded enclave on the Hanley Center campus in West Palm Beach, Florida. The setting is deliberately understated - lush tropical gardens and quiet outdoor spaces rather than a clinical institution - built for clients whose careers depend on discretion as much as clinical results.
Headwaters was built specifically for people in positions of visibility and responsibility: physicians, entrepreneurs, CEOs, lawyers, pilots, celebrities, dentists, philanthropists, board members, and business owners. Admissions runs through a concierge process from first contact, and every clinical decision from there - detox protocol, therapy mix, connectivity policy - is shaped around protecting a client's professional standing while they focus on recovery.
Beyond standard substance use and co-occurring mental health treatment, Headwaters runs a dedicated Center for Brain Recovery and a specialized Impaired Professionals track - programs built for clients whose licensure, career, or public role adds a layer of complexity that generalist rehab programs aren't built to handle. Clinical focus extends to a wider substance list than most comparable programs disclose publicly, including fentanyl addiction and psychedelic/club drug addiction alongside the more commonly listed alcohol, opioid, and benzodiazepine dependencies.
On the mental health side, treatment covers mood disorders, anxiety, PTSD and Complex PTSD, OCD, depressive disorders, personality disorders, adult ADHD, codependency, and process (behavioral) addictions - a scope broad enough to treat genuinely complex, overlapping presentations under one clinical roof rather than referring clients elsewhere mid-treatment.
Privacy at Headwaters isn't just physical seclusion - it's procedural. The program maintains defined confidentiality protocols, secure digital systems, and discreet campus access specifically to protect a client's personal information and professional reputation for the duration of treatment. Structured phone and laptop access at designated times lets clients manage essential professional obligations without that access undermining the security or focus of the program itself.
Headwaters's treatment focuses on substance use disorders, with particular emphasis on opioid and alcohol dependency alongside co-occurring mental health conditions.

What people are saying
Addiction rarely affects one person alone, which is why Headwaters builds family involvement directly into the treatment timeline rather than treating it as an optional add-on. Loved ones are invited to participate at every stage, with sessions scheduled around each family's availability so distance or busy calendars aren't a barrier to participating. The goal is practical, not just supportive: families leave with concrete communication tools and a clearer understanding of addiction, so trust and relationships strained by substance use have a real foundation to rebuild on, well after the client's stay ends.
Read moreMost rehab programs describe their approach in detail but rarely publish independently verified results. Headwaters does both. A three-year outcomes study conducted with the OMNI Institute found that 95% of alumni completed the program, 81% reported sobriety within the prior 30 days, and 72% maintained long-term sobriety. The data extends past sobriety metrics too: graduates reported broader gains in day-to-day life, with 87% noting improved physical health, 93% reporting more fulfilling relationships, and 94% describing a higher overall quality of life after treatment.
